Medium
Oil on gardening weed barrier fabric
Dimensions
24 × 21 in (61 × 53.3 cm)
Year
2022–2024
Frame
Unframed; raw gardening weed barrier fabric remains visible on the reverse and is integral to the artwork
Created as part of the ongoing Holiday Me / PAYASOY self-portrait series.
A pale face appears within a dense black mane, surrounded by an expansive green field. Blue shadows gather around the eyes, nose and mouth, giving the figure the frontal intensity of a mask while retaining the vulnerability of a human presence.
Dark forms move through the surrounding green without settling into a single identity. They may suggest animals, vegetation, shadows or companions occupying the same imaginative environment as the portrait.
The holiday self is quieter here but no less transformed. It occupies the threshold between person and creature, recognition and estrangement.
