Golden Night 1 marks the first strong appearance of gold within In the Name of the Earth, following an earlier period largely driven by black, white and red.
The painting grew from the final movement of Jack London's The Call of the Wild, and the image of an animal entering the night forest beyond human command.
Drawn with squeezable bottles and worked through gardening weed barrier fabric. The painted frame is an integral part of the work.
